Tyler Herro scored 30 points while sinking two triples in extra time and the Miami Heat regrouped after losing an early advantage to beat the Atlanta Hawks 123-114 on Friday night and make the history of the NBA game tournament.

Miami will play in Cleveland on Sunday night in the opening match of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.

Davion Mitchell scored only seven points in regulation before adding three triples in extra time for Miami.

The Heat became the first 10th seed at any conference to reach the playoffs since the current game format was launched in the 2020-21 season. Miami also became the first game team to advance with two road victories.

Bring Young’s Lay-in with 1.3 seconds stir in the regulation tied the game in 106, forcing overtime. Young scored 29 points with 11 assists. Onyaka Okongwu had 28 points with 12 rebounds.

Miami began strong, scoring the first 10 points of the game and leading by 17 points to 45-28 in the second period.

The Hawks tied the game in 88 on a Tele Mann tray. Triple of Young gave Atlanta his first advantage in 91-88 with 7:36 Remaining.

Atlanta led 93-92 before Okongwu had a triple. After a robbery of Dyson Daniels, Okongwu’s jam extended the advantage to 98-92.

The Heat Nikola Jovic striker, who had been out since February 23 with a broken right hand, was a notice but did not play. The Pelle Larsson Guard (ankle) was also first available since April 7.

After establishing minimal season with four 3 pieces made and 21 tried against Orlando in the first game game, coach Quin Snyder said his players “have to be willing to take 3s disputed.”

The Hawks responded trying 21 3 in the first half against Miami, while doing five. For the game, Atlanta made 16 of 47 3s.

Associated Press reports.
