Thousands of teachers continue protest in Kolkata overnight, demand releasing list of untainted candidates

After a meeting with some of the teachers who lost their works, the Minister of Education of the State, Bratya Basu, had said that the list of “deserving and unpleasant candidates would be published in two weeks. The teachers hoped that the WBSSC would publish the list on Monday night.

But when the commission did not publish the list of un contaminated candidates, thousands of teachers, the seated outside their office, shouting the slogan “We want justice.”

A Junior doctors section, which were involved in the protest after the case of rape and murder of RG Kar, went to the WBSSC office to show solidarity with the teachers. A great contingent of the rapid force of action was deployed at midnight.

The Minister of Education said Monday night that legal experts had advised the commission against the publication of the segregated list of non -contaminated and contaminated candidates, since legal scrutiny would fail.

Basu urged the agitators to wait until the state government present a request for review before the Supreme Court. “Wait for the Government to present a review before the Supreme Court. We have to follow the guidelines,” he added.
