The governor of Karnataka, Thawar Chand Gehlot, applied on Wednesday the Great Bengaluru Government bill. The bill proposes to divide the Palike of Bhat Bengaluru Mahanagara (BBMP) into seven bodies of government, together with an apex body, the Bengaluru authority (GBA). The GBA will supervise and coordinate the development between the parastatal agencies, and will be headed by the Karnataka Prime Minister.

The governor had previously raised Conerns, ordering the bill to be forwarded with adequate clarifications. The representations of the opposition parties and the civic groups that oppose the bill were ceded in their response. The governor said that the model had failed in Delhi, and that a similar situation in Bangalore could also arise.
