The “Bio-Representation System” of an Indian architect for the most ecological cities is one of the six global projects chosen by ‘Creatives for Future Program’ of the 2025 Swarovski Foundation, an initiative together with the United Nations Office for Associations.

The 29 -year -old architect project, Mangesh Kurund, is the only one to win from India and its project “uses light tiles integrated with water to grow algae and moss, imitating the processes of natural water management,” said a note from the Foundation. “This living coating purifies the air, kidnaps carbon and reduces urban heat, contributing to healthier and green cities,” he explained.

Other winning projects included ecological housing solutions for refugee camps in Nigeria, textiles made of oceanic waste in Egypt by local fishermen and a device that makes music more accessible to the deaf community of Saintesia.

The 2025 winners were elected among 487 applicants and announced at a recent reception at the United Nations headquarters in New York. Each winner obtains a subsidy of € 20,000, in addition to the tutoring, access to industry experts and a global support network to climb their projects and accelerate progress to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Chordination.

With this support, Kurund expects “to turn his concept into a scalable, shocking and commercial viable system, developing functional prototypes that can be tested in a variety of real world conditions,” said the note. “My architectural ideas have always revolved around closing the gap between built and natural environments to create interconnected and complementary spaces.

Jakhya Rahman-Corey, director of the Swarovski Foundation, said innovative solutions demonstrated the “transforming power of creativity to address global challenges.” Annemarie Hou, executive director of the United Nations Association Office, pointed out the importance in support “Young people with tools to create a sustainable world.”

The program is the next generation of creative innovatives that promote the architecture of sustainable solutions, fashion, circular design, community development, product design and technology, according to the note in their fourth year and supports the next generation of creative innovatives that boost sustainable.
