USC commit Alijah Arenas, son of Gilbert Arenas, in coma following car crash

Alijah Arenas, a basketball star from Los Angeles high school that promised to play for the University of Southern California next season, had an accident early, said the university.

The Los Angeles Police Department said the officers responded shortly before 5 am to the collision of a single vehicle in the Reeda area of ​​the San Fernando Valley. The Los Angeles Fire Department also said that the vehicle was a cybertruck tesla that crashed into a tree.

An 18 -year -old man was transported to the hospital in stable condition, police said. The police department did not identify the driver.

Multiple media, including Los Angeles Times and ESPN, said Arenas was the driver, citing unidentified sources.

The USC’s male basketball coach Eric Musselman said in a statement about X: “Our thoughts and prayers are with Alijah and his family after this morning’s accident. Please keep it, his teammates and friends and the whole family of Arenas in their prayers.”

Arenas is the son of former NBA player Gilbert Arenas. Attend Chatsworth High School in Los Angeles.

Alijah’s mother, Laura Govan, published on social networks asking for prayers for her son. Gilbert Arenas canceled his program of online interviews scheduled for Thursday.
