Gov. Kathy Hochul’s favorability sees reprieve — while Schumer’s nosedives and AOC’s soars: poll

ALBANY – Governor Kathy Hochul has something to celebrate, a real suggestion of the most New York survey like her than not, but the same cannot be said for the former Senator Chuck Schumer, who achieved his lowest qualification in two decades.

According to a recently published Siena College survey last week, 44% of New Yorkers described Hochul favorably, compared to 43% unfavorable.

“For the first time since January 2024, Hochul has a positive rating, barely favorable,” wrote the Siena Greenberg survey spokesman in a statement.

The governor saw that his favorability increased by 4% of 40% in March and his unfavorability drop of 7% of 50% in the same month.

Despite the positive side, Hochul’s survey is still lousy in general. Only 39% of voters said they would do it for “someone else” if the elections were held today, including only 51% of the Democrats. The survey showed 48% preference to someone else.

Only 41% of respondents indicated that New York is in the “right path” versus headed in the “incorrect direction.” Only 51% of the Democrats said the State was on the right path.

Hochul exchanged his usual numbers of Putrid surveys with his state-owned partner, Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY), who recorded his lowest favorability in 20 years.

The liberals seem to be turning their backs on the Senate minority leader after he gave in and let a vote progress in the budget resolution of the Republicans last month.

“A first in a Siena College survey: Schumer has 10 points underwater, with a plurality of voters who see him unfavorable,” Greenberg said.

Schumer was qualified 39% favorable and 49% unfavorable.

“While it continues to be unfavorable for more than two thirds of the Republicans and most of the independents, Schumer saw their position with the Democrats, partularly liberal, fall dramatic,” Greenberg added.

While Schumer saw a fall, the progressive representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-Ny) saw the opposite. The democratic socialist Pol was qualified with 47% favorable and 33% unfavorable in the survey, with 64% favorability among the Democrats.

“While Schumer’s fifth mandate extends until 2028, Ocasio-Cortez has established himself as a New York Democrat to see,” Greenberg said.
