Trinity Rodman is taking off the time of the Washington Spirit while dealing with back problems, said the National Women’s Soccer League team.
The striker, who also plays for the National Women’s Team of the United States, will be left aside indefinitely. The Washington Post was the first to inform Rodman’s absence.
“We expect his return when he is healthy,” said the spirit in a statement.
Rodman won a gold medal for the United States at the Paris Olympic Games last summer. Last September, an injured fault was a match against the Kansas City current.
He returned to the national team earlier this month and scored in a 2-0 victory over Brazil. He also played last weekend in Spirit’s 2-0 victory over Louisville’s races. She has played in four games for the spirit this season.
After the 1-0 victory on Spirit’s road over Orlando’s pride on Saturday, Chief coach Jonatan Giráldez said he was focused on the game.
“Being honest at this time, it’s too soon to talk about it. Today I focused on the game,” he said. “In the next few days, I will have more information and I will be able to share with all of you.”
Last month, Rodman told reporters that the problem was not an injury as much as the way his back is structured.
“I don’t think my back is the way I was my rookie year, which is unfortunate,” Rodman said.
