Almost 10 months after the boat of a Texas family overturned on the coast of Homer, Alaska, a Human Search rowed at the bottom of the Bay.
In August 2024, the United States Coast Guard looked for missing navigators, but suspended it without any sighting.
David and Mary Maynard, from Troy, along with his two children, Colton Maynard, and Bantley Maynard-Went, disappeared after a 28-foot aluminum boat that takes eight people turned on Saturday.

The state soldiers of Alaska said they had three private companies: Alaska, Subsea Vision and Benthic Geoscience Inc – Contact them to offer their professional tools to help with the search. With their help, they were able to locate the lost ship.
“In early May, the group was able to locate the ship in 180 feet of water and, using a vehicle operated remotely, capable of possessing ID such as the missing boat with possible human remains on board,” Alaska state said.
Since the discovery, Diverse has recovered three sets of remains of the sunk vessel and transported them to the State’s Forensic Doctor’s office for positive identification and autopsy.

Family members have been notified and Alaska’s wildlife soldiers expressed their gratitude to all those who helped in recovery efforts.
“The Alaska’s Wildlife Troopers wish to thank Alaska’s support ships, Subsea Vision, Benthic Geoscience Inc, and Alaska Buced Search, Rescue and Recovery Team for their continuous assistance with this search and recovery operation,” they said.
A Goofundme published when the family first used disappeared, the Maynards “left a great imprint in many people,” from the laugh that brought Thers to the “love and family connection they cause.”
