What motherhood can teach us about the workplace

As a senior marketing manager of a non -profit organization, a content creator and a mother of two two, Meghety Fououlian, based in Los Angeles, has many things to do. What is your “personal brand”? What do you expect people to get from your page @Lifewithmamamg?

[It’s] All about being honest, real and fun. I always say that my page shouts: “We are going to laugh at that so that we do not cry for that!” I really love making people laugh! It is one of my favorite ways to connect.

At the same time, going through the ups and downs of motherhood has taken me a more reflective side. Or I write about my emotions. I know how alone you can feel when you are in the heart and I feel that you do not listen to or see you. I want moms to feel less alone, who know some understand it.

I don’t believe in maternity in sugar. That is why I share the difficult moments with the beautiful ones. Through my publications, I hope to generate confidence with my audience so that they feel that they have a virtual friend in me; Someone who is there when they need to laugh, cry or just see each other.

How much do you earn in a month of your content?

Around $ 3-4K per month. This industry is very unpredictable. A few months I do nothing, and a few months I make five figures.

When it comes to sponsoring content, how does it determine what a yes and what does it have?

I am very intentional about the brands with which I choose to work. My audience trusts me and I take it seriously. I would never recommend something that I would like or behave personally use. Before moving forward with an association, I ask Myelf: “Would you buy this with my own money?” I have rejected many associations in the past simply because the product did not align with my values ​​or lifestyle.

On the other hand, they have bone marks that I really loved as a client, but after working them or seeing how they communicate or treat content creators and their work, he disappointed me. Bad communication or lack of mutual respect is a great red flag for me, and it is enough to stop supporting the brand completely. At the end of the day, integrity is important, both in what I share and who I choose to work with.

The three main things without which you cannot live as a mother:

He takes my solidarity husband, of course, I would say that my mother, who recently moved to the United States. She is all my people. As a working mother, I could do it without. She helps a lot of caring for our children and the steps for when we need appointment nights. His support is a real blessing, and I learned to love her.

The next is my Double Zoe stroller! We really never go anywhere with children without him. It is light, durable and spacious enough to contain all the snacks, toys, my coffee and everything else that my children would need.

Finally, Instacart and Dordash for the delivery of groceries. As much as I like a good grocery store, I really trust edible delivery applications to save time and energy. It is a thing that I have to think about, and it keeps me supplied in Essentials without leaving the house with two young children who always run and touch everything.

My climacing calendar: it is really my second brain. Among the meetings, deadlines, content planning and family life, having everything that visual gets to me.

Definitely Canva: I use it daily as a seller and content creator. Whether you are designing Carousel publications or gathering marketing images, it is my creative tool that makes everything look more visually attractive.

Finally, my home office. When we live in a narrower space, I did a dedicated work area, and now that I do it, I can feel the difference. My productivity has improved a lot! I am less distracted and mentally, my brain knows: “Ok, we are in working mode now.”

Is there anything to be a mother who has helped you with your career?

The first is adaptability. Maternity throws so many unexpected moments in your own way. Just when you think you have it solved, a new curved ball is throwing you. Routine changes, car naps, sleep regressions, teeth, training to go to the bathroom and much more. I learned to pivot quickly, keep calm under pressure and get the best out of the situations that I cannot control. That mentality has a valuable valuable one in my work as a non -profit seller, where priorities can change rapidly, resources are limited and should be kept focused on the solution while maintaining the mission in front and the center.

The second is talking. Growing up, I had a lot of confidence in my skills, especially because I in the creative world and not in traditional academic areas, and that was always valued in traditional school environments. I was silent, I kept my opinions to Myelf and doubted if my voice really mattered.

But becoming a mother changed all that. When it comes to my children, I realized that remaining silent is not an option. Whether it is medical appointments, legislation for support or question what is better for your well -being, I quickly learned that my voice is not only powerful but also necessary.

That trust has also moved to other areas of my life. Now I speak more at work, I share my ideas with confidence and I trust that what I contribute to the table has value. My direct supervisor calls me the generator of ideas and that makes me very happy! Motherhood gave me the impulse I needed to finally my voice.

What do you want more people to understand about working mothers?

People assume that if you work, you are not the one who raises your children or that you are somehow neglecting your family. The reality is that my work is a great part of what I am. Yes, being a mother is my most important title, but I’m not just a mother. I am a wife, a professional, a sister, a daughter and a friend. All these roles care, and all these roles make me who I am and fill my cup.

And when it comes to my work and my page, both remind me of what I am good and what I can achieve. And that version of me, made, safe, view, is the mother that I want to present as for my children. I want to inspire them to see that they can pursue their passions, trust who they are and always fill their own glasses with things that do a subject. Issue.

What advice do you have for some who seek to do what you do?

It only begins. Even if it seems that you are not ready, continue and take the first step. Honestly, I don’t think anyone is really “ready”, but I know you will learn and grow as you advance.
