Yemen’s main airport in Sanaa disabled in airstrikes, Israel’s military says

IsraelThe army said Tuesday that he launched air attacks against huti rebels backed by Iranian in Yemen, completely disabled the country’s international airport in the capital, Sanaa, and hitting several electric plants.

The strikes, the second in two days, arrived after Israel launched air attacks in retaliation for a Houthi missile strike The previous day at the Israel International Airport.

The Hutíes satellite news channel, Al-Masirah, reported the strikes, confirming that the airport had been affected.

The images transmitted by Israeli television showed thick black smoke feathers that rose on the Sanaa horizon. The video of social networks intended to show multiple attacks around Sanaa, with the black smoke increasing as the blows of the explosion resonated against the surrounding mountains. There was no immediate information about any victim.

Tuesday’s strike occurred shortly after the military issued a warning on social networks so that people evacuate the Yemen International Airport area.

“We urge you to immediately evacuate the airport area and warn everyone that is immediately distanced,” wrote spokesman Avichay Adraee on social networks, attaching a map of the Sanaa International Airport. “Do not evacuate the area endangers their lives.”

On Monday night, Israel pointed to the hutis rebels backed by Iran in the Province of the Red Sea of ​​Yemen de Hodeida, killing at least one person and wounding 35. The rebel media office said that at least six Stikes hit the crucial port of Hodeide. Others arrived at a cement factory in the Bajil district, 55 kilometers, 34 miles, northeast or hodeida, the rebels said. The Ministry of Health led by Houthi said the attacks killed at least four people and wounded another 39.

The Hutíes launched a missile on Sunday that hit an access road near the main airport of Israel near Tel Aviv, flight arrest and traffic flights. Four people were slightly injured.

The hutis have attacked Israel through the war in solidarity with the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, raising their profile as the last member of the “Axis of Resistance” self -denominated of Iran capable of launching regular attacks against Israel.

The United States Army under President Donald Trump has launched an intensified campaign or air attacks aimed at hutis since March 15. Uscecom says that it has achieved more than 800 goals, killing the injured of Hutis combatants and numerous Huti leaders.

Strikes have also destroyed command and control facilities, air defense systems and advanced weapons manufacturing facilities and storage locations, said UScentcom.

“We will continue to increase the pressure until the objective is, which remains the restoration of freedom of navigation and American deterrence in the region,” he said.

The US authorities said, however, that the US army did not participate in Tuesday’s wave or Israeli air attacks against the hutis objectives in Yemen.

Israel has repeatedly hit the rebels in Yemen. He hit Hodeida and his oil infrastructure in July after an attack by Hutí drones killed a person and wounded 10 in Tel Aviv.

In September, Israel hit Hodeida again, killing at least four people after a missile went to Ben Gurion airport when Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu returned to the country. In December, Israeli attacks killed at least nine people in Hodeida.

The United States Embassy in Sanaa suspended its operations a decade ago, several months after Yemen’s civil war began. The United States government says that Americans should not travel to Yemen for any reason and cannot provide emergency services to citizens there.
