Kimi Antonelli shocks the entire grid with a thunderous pole lap for the F1 Sprint in Miami

Miami, Florida – is true what they say about Miami.

Traffic can be unbearable.

That is the case that leads in the Miami metropolitan area, as this author can attest after three days here on the ground for the Miami Grand Prix, and it was true on the track on Friday afternoon to qualify for the Sprint F1 race. Four drivers (Jack Doohan, Yuki Tsunoda, Gabriel Bortoleto and Oliver Bearman) could not establish a second time back in the first quarter due to traffic, losing the second qualification segment.

But when the day was established, it was the young Kimi Antonelli, in his first Grand Prix of Miami, who stole the pole position with a thunderous final route in the Q3.

Starting next to him in the first row will be Oscar Piastri, with McLaren teammate, Lando Norris, start starting third. Max Verstappen of Red Bull, who has just arrived in Miami after he and his partner celebrated the birth of his daughter, qualified in fourth.

Antonelli’s lap was the fastest return in the history of the Miami Grand Prix.

“It was a very intense rating,” said Antonelli Trackside after the qualification. “I felt sure of the qualification, the last lap was powerful.”

Antonelli is now the young pilot who begins in Pole in a F1 race.

Speaking with the media, including SB nationOn Thursday, Antonelli described how his trust increased with every race weekend. Now he has his first position of the Pole F1.
